Video transcript: Hi, I'm Julia Brown and I'm based in London. I care for my beautiful mother. Caring is no easy job at all. It's usually an invisible workforce that people don't really appreciate. How much millions of pounds and billions of pounds that we are saving the NHS with. Now as a carer, I chose to to reduce my hours significantly so that I could be there for my mother when she needed me more. This in theory, sounds like a great plan, but over the long term this is a very serious issue that needs to be addressed. What do I mean by that? You see, if you're reducing your hours and everything else is increasing the cost of living for example, then this is really a form formula of to fall into debt heavily. So I'm also encouraging carers that you do need to be looking after all aspects of yourself too, because your loved one wants you to live your life as well as looking after them. And I know it's not easy, but it's something that we will need to do. You see, at the end of the day, your loved one wants you to be happy and you're doing all these things because you want to make your loved one happy, but you're not listening to how you're feeling. You see, sometimes what happens is that we're so obsessed with doing the best that we can for our loved ones that what actually happens is that we're not sleeping, we're not eating, we're not exercising, we're not socializing. Relationships can break down. People don't know what to say when they see you because all you do is talk about your loved ones. Okay? So caring isn't easy. And this is why we definitely need some time to take out to recharge our batteries.
