My husband comes second in my life, not because I prefer the company of my mother, but because she has Alzheimer’s and cannot do anything for herself. So, a lovely break without having to dash off is vital to my marriage. Thank you.

Please thank the staff at the Village in South Leeds. Everybody we met was lovely, chatty and helpful. This is the second Carefree break we have been on, and you must believe me that they make a heck of a difference to us. I care for my 29-year-old son, who has ASD, LD and epilepsy and my 81-year-old mum, who has dementia. My life hasn’t been my own for a long time, so when we get a break, even if it’s just for one night, just driving away to spend the night somewhere else is a total release of pressure. We arrive and usually just enjoy being on our own. The breakfast on Saturday morning was tasty and varied. My husband favours a cooked breakfast, whereas I’m a yoghurt, fruit and toast kind of person. Thanks again for a lovely break, we caught the Park and Ride and had a great day in Leeds.

The break provided by Carefree was a well needed and extremely positive experience. The booking was straightforward and was sorted very quickly. The hotel was brilliant and I am feeling the benefits mentally and physically of a short time away from my care commitment and came back with my batteries charged. Carefree have been brilliant and look forward to accessing a break next year.

I care for my mum who has dementia and my adult son who has SLD, profound autism and also has epilepsy. I get no respite. I also work 28 hours a week. I have no time on my own ever. I try not to think about what a non life I have because I couldn’t get up in a morning, and I’d rather be positive. We arrived at the hotel and the young lady on reception was lovely, friendly and approachable. She gave us our keys and we made our way to the room. There was a sign in the room saying relax. I read it and nearly burst into tears. Please could you send our heartfelt thanks to the hotel. Everyone was friendly and generally brilliant. We visited Kenilworth and Warwick and without this break, we would have visited neither. Oh yes, delicious breakfast too. Thank you so much xx

It was a lovely break. Hotel really good. Welcoming staff. Room lovely and nice and warm top. After a really hard couple of years it really gave me a lift and made me tune in to my own pleasure and sense of happiness.
